Overall objective
Specific objectives |
These interviews form part of a PhD research project by the chief investigator examining how stakeholders involved in adaptation in Vietnam – including government, donors, NGOs, scientists and farmers – understand and deliberate about climate change adaptation. The research explores the extent to which the interests and voices of people affected by climate change may be reflected in wider discourses of climate adaptation governance. |
Contents |
The interviews are to be conducted in two locations, My Xuyen district in Soc Trang province, and Mang Thit district in Vinh Long province, in order to cover two different hydrological regimes of the Mekong Delta, coastal and inland. In each province, 8 interviews will be conducted: with 6 farmers, 1 extension officer and 1 commune official. As far as possible, the farmers selected should represent a diversity of households: poorer and less poor, undertaking different livelihoods, and including both women and men. At least half of them should not already be involved in an externally-funded adaptation activity. The extension officers will be staff of the district Department of Agriculture and Rural Development office. The commune officials will be Environmental/Agricultural staff of the Commune People’s Committee. |
