Handing over the seafood hatchery worth 33 billion Vietnam dong

On the morning of March 30, 2021, Can Tho University (CTU) held a handover ceremony of the Aquaculture hatchery project, located at the Faculty of Fisheries. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Shimizu Akira, Chief Representative of JICA Vietnam Office; Mr. Tsunoda Manabu, Technical Assistance Project Chief Advisor; Mr. Uchiyama Yasuharu, Head of Design Team; Mr. Hirano Koji, Head of Supervisory Team. On the side of CTU, there were Prof. Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, Rector; Vice Rectors and Former Vice Rectors and representatives of leaders of units under the University.


As one of four work items under the "Facilities Development" component within the framework of CTU's Upgrading Project, the Aquaculture Hatchery was started to be designed by the Nihon Sekkei-JICE-EARL Consultant consortium. and NAGECCO from December 2016 along with other works of the Project. In October 2019, the camp started construction on an area of ​​more than 2,800 m2 with a total investment of 33.6 billion VND. The farm has 17 main rooms for research, including: freshwater hatchery, brackish water aquaculture farm, marine fish farm, crustacean farm, mollusk and seaweed farm, control area, pumping station, pathology laboratory aquaculture, physiological laboratory, applied aquatic biology, microscope room, ...

The introduction of the Aquaculture hatchery to meet the scientific research activities on aquatic products of students, trainees, officials and lecturers; thereby strengthening CTU's capacity, bringing high-quality research and academic works in the fields of fisheries and aquaculture, aiming to turn CTU into an excellent international university. recognized in the field of aquaculture, contributing to the socio-economic development of the Mekong Delta and the whole country.
